 The Sterling Shader design is milled from a solid block of 1018 steel. It is a heavy machine and very sturdy in construction but is very well balanced and does not feel as heavy in your hand.

 From my experience over the years, I feel the geometry on this machine has the ideal dimensions for a shading and color machine.

The components have been specially heat treated resulting in optimum magnetism and hardness of the steel.  The Sterling Shader has an oil blackened finish like the liner after having used the prototype machine for a couple of weeks; I feel this is the finest shading machine I have ever used-No bullshit!
